JIMMY JOHNSTONE MND TRIBUTE FUND

Jimmy Johnstone

The club have chosen to support this charity in memory of Jimmy Johnstone, Celtic’s greatest ever footballer, died from MND in March 2006. He was a much-loved man and thousands turned out to show their respects at his funeral.

During his lifetime, the Jimmy Johnstone Tribute Fund was set up so people could raise money in his name. This money continues to help both the MND Association and the Scottish MND Association by funding research and supporting people affected by this terrible disease.

Jimmy’s wife, Agnes, said: “Jimmy was a wonderful man and a great character. He lived every moment of his life to the full.

“Following his diagnosis he dedicated much of his time and energy to raising money and awareness of MND.”

Jimmy, known to friends and fans as ‘Jinky’, was an integral part of the Celtic side, which won nine consecutive Scottish League titles between 1965 and 1974. He was also one of the legendary Lisbon Lions that in 1967 became the first British side to lift the European Cup.

One of our members is looking for Sponsorship for the Great North Run:

Hi all,

For all of you that know me (and for those that don't) I am running the Great North Run this year..yep, 13.5 miles of torture. However, instead of just doing it for me own pleasure( ??)......... I have decided to do it for charity!

It took me all of two seconds to decide on which one...Motor Neurone Disease.

So please take a bit of time and visit
Support Motor Neurone Disease and sponsor me. Please note, sponsoring me online ensures an extra 28% tax gift donation.

Thanks,

Hail Hail
