John McCartan Fund
John McCartan, 8 year old from Derry, currently being treated for leukemia in Newcastle
General
His Dad has given up his job and moved into the hospital with his wife to be with their son. They have left
their other children with neighbours and relatives back home.
His younger brother has had an operation for the bone
marrow transplant that John needs, so the family have had two young children to worry about. They are very appreciative of
our help and send their deepest thanks. Unfortunately John's treatment will be ongoing for a while yet, so they are really
struggling. We are therefore hoping to raise the publicity of the Fund and give it another boost. There is a long road ahead
for him and his family. We have been asked if we could send him some things to cheers him up. At last nights meeting we thought
it would be better if we all sent him a get well card individually rather than a collective club one, to let him know we are
all thinking about him. We have also been asked if we had anything to make his stay in hospital a bit easier. He must be bored
in there. If you have anything that a young boy would appreciate, then it would be great if you could donate it.(games, magazines
etc.) Cards and gifts can be sent or handed into the Tyneside Irish Centre
Shay Given visited John which gave him a morale booster. Shay also visited all the children
in the ward. He has promised John an invitation to St James' when he is fully fit. That has gave him an incentive.
John Neill
John Neill faced the clippers recently for his sponsored head shave in the Supporters
Association on London Road - we raised £631.35 on the day. Thanks to all who donated so generously yesterday and thank you
also to the Tullygally Emerald CSC from Armagh who donated 5 match tickets to sell for the fund. Further sponsor money
came in and the final total that John raised was a magnificent £1103.35
Well done John.
So far we have raised £4763.38
Hail Hail to the greatest Celtic Supporters Club in the World.
